General Description
SPI is a private consulting company created in 1996 as an active centre of national and international networks connected to the SME and innovation sectors. SPI has become a leading promoter of linkages between private sector companies, science and technology institutions, and national and international public and private organizations. SPI embraces the mission of managing projects that promote regional, national and international development, stimulate entrepreneurship, innovation and knowledge management and encourage internationalization and creation of strategic partnerships and business relationships. SPI has more than 80 staff members located in offices in Portugal (Porto, Lisbon, Évora, Coimbra and Ponta Delgada), China (Beijing and Macao), Spain (Santiago de Compostela) and the USA (Washington D.C. and California). SPI also has an affiliated office in Brussels, Belgium, through the European Business & Innovation Centre Network (EBN). Research, development and innovation (R&DI) is one of SPI’s main pillars of activity. SPI applies its entrepreneurial approach, business experience, and fundamental scientific knowledge to support the advancement of R&DI. SPI is very active in the EC’s Framework Programmes (from FP5 to FP7 and now Horizon 2020), by coordinating projects, providing strategic advice to organisations and supporting organisations in their applications. Due to this experience and the experience of affiliated offices in other regions of the world, SPI has access to an extensive network of contacts representing different types of stakeholders (academia, industry, associations, etc.) and sectors (health. agribusiness, biotechnology, industrial technology, information technology, nanotechnology, space technology, etc.) worldwide. SPI is currently or has led / been a partner in over 25 FP7/CIP and over 35 H2020 projects across a range of research themes. SPI also has extensive experience in other European Commission programmes. By leveraging its network of contacts and offices in Portugal and abroad, SPI is in an excellent position to support the participation of i3S in international programmes, such as Horizon 2020 and its successor Horizon Europe.
Role in the project
SPI is the leader of the Work Package 7 – Communication and Dissemination, overseeing all related activities. SPI has competences in dissemination, communication and visibility actions (SPI has an in-house design team with capability of developing websites, professional promotional and informational materials). SPI leads dissemination and communication activities in over 10 H2020 projects.
